What happens in the first session?

Your first session is a gentle conversation. We'll talk about what's brought you, what you'd like to be different, and any history that feels relevant. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to — we go at your pace, and by the end you'll have a clear sense of how we might work together.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes. Everything we discuss is confidential, in line with UKCP ethical standards and UK data protection law. The only exceptions — which I'd always try to talk through with you first — are if there's a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or where the law requires disclosure. I'll explain all of this fully at your first session.

Question 3

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you're working on. Focused hypnotherapy work (like stopping smoking or a specific phobia) is often 2–6 sessions. Counselling for anxiety, low mood or relationship difficulties usually benefits from a longer, more open-ended arrangement — often weekly or fortnightly. We'll review together regularly and you're never locked in.

How does hypnotherapy actually work?

Hypnosis is simply a state of deep relaxation combined with focused attention — a bit like the state you drift through just before sleep. In that state, the analytical, critical part of the mind steps back, and helpful suggestions and imagery can land more easily. You remain aware and fully in control throughout — you can't be made to do or say anything against your will.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

For most people, yes — it's a safe, gentle process when practised by a trained therapist. It isn't recommended in a small number of situations (for example active psychosis or certain severe mental health conditions). We'll cover any relevant history at your free intro call so we can be sure it's the right approach for you.

What are your fees?

Individual counselling and hypnotherapy are £55 per 50-minute session. Couples counselling is £70 per session. Every enquiry starts with a free 15-minute introductory call so you can ask questions before committing to anything.

Question 7

Do you offer online sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I offer secure online video sessions across the UK for clients who prefer to meet from home, travel a lot, or live outside easy reach of Norwich. Most work translates well to online — we can talk through what suits you at your intro call.

Question 8

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to change or cancel a session, please give at least 48 hours' notice so the time can be offered to someone else. Cancellations inside 48 hours are charged in full. Life happens, and I'll always be reasonable about genuine emergencies.

Question 9

Where are you based?

Accepted Answer

In-person sessions are held in Little Plumstead, just outside Norwich (postcode NR13 5JA) — a quiet, private setting with free on-site parking. Online sessions are available UK-wide.
